How do I turn the cursor on?
Open the app, click Open theme editor, switch the Store cursor app embed on, and save. You only do this once. Then pick a cursor in the app and click Apply to my store.
I applied a cursor but my storefront hasn't changed.
Two things to check. First, that the Store cursor embed is switched on in the theme you are actually publishing — if you are viewing a preview of a different theme, the embed will not appear. Second, give it a few minutes: Shopify caches app settings briefly after a change.
Will this slow my store down?
The cursor is a single block of CSS in your theme with the images embedded inside it. There is no JavaScript and your visitors’ browsers make no request to our servers to load it.
What happens on phones and tablets?
Nothing changes. Touch devices have no mouse pointer, so the cursor simply does not apply and your mobile experience is untouched.
Does the cursor cover text boxes and search fields?
No. Text inputs, textareas, dropdowns and editable fields deliberately keep the normal text caret, so typing and selecting still feel right.
Why can't I choose a motion for the cursor I picked?
Motions are only offered where they look right. Spin, Pulse and Wobble rotate or scale the artwork, which would pull an arrow’s tip away from the point that actually gets clicked, so pointed cursors do not offer them. Orbit is hidden when the circling dot would pass straight through the artwork, and text-caret cursors offer Blink only. Tick Animated only to browse just the cursors that can move.
Does the animation run all the time?
It plays while a shopper moves the mouse and rests when they stop. That is how browsers redraw a cursor image, and it keeps the effect from being distracting.
What does the app do with my store data?
Nothing — it requests no Shopify permissions at all, so it cannot read your products, orders or customers. Your chosen cursor is saved to your own store as a metafield. See the privacy policy for detail.
What happens when I uninstall?
The cursor stops immediately and your storefront returns to its default pointer. Because the app ships as a theme app embed, uninstalling leaves no code behind in your theme.
